Day 1
We discover the historical town crossing through the main buildings of the XIX and XX centuries, including "La Moneda" the Government Palace. From there, we walk to the city's main square and see Santiago’s Cathedral, the old parliament building and the Spaniard’s founded Government Palace. We continue in our vehicle towards the area of Mapocho located by the former stunning copper roof Train Station, today used as a busy Cultural Center with. The crowded Central Market, full of colourful local fruits, vegetables, delicious spices and the endless noisy stands of fresh fish and seafood. All the Pacific Ocean’s products can be found in the restaurants that whet the apetite of everyone.
Our drive continues by the evergreen Forestal park, marvelous garden that surrounds the french styled Fine Arts Museum. We cross the expectant bohemian urban area of Bellavista, and stroll by its amusing handcraft, books, paintings and clothing stores and the great range of national and international cuisine. Then we drive to the upper part of the majestic San Cristobal hill for an incredible sweeping view of Santiago and the Andes range, always magnificent after a day’s rain.
Afterwards in the east area of Santiago we witness the modernization of the city with its steel and mirror-glass architecture.
Then we return to the hotel.
We end the day with a delightfull dinner.
Day 2
We drive towards the south-east aerea of Santiago. As we cross the Maipo river by the foothills of the Andes Mountain we discover the valley where the pioneers planted the traditional and remarkable pre-phylloxera grapes of our reputed wine production.
During our tour we visit two different vineyards:
A family winery that practices organic and biodynamical agriculture. During our visit we experience an extraodinary method of wine making. All their work is focused to obtain from the earth and the natural elements a superb wine.
The other visit is to a major and traditional wine producer and exporter of Chile. During our visit we learn about the diversity of soils and climates of each of their vineyards. Their peerless variety of flavoured grapes and their complete process.
After both visits and of course after the tasting of several glasses of sublime wines we eat a generous and exquisite lunch at a country chilean restaurant.
After lunch, when everyone is ready for a nap we head back to the hotel in Santiago.
Day 3
We start our journey in the morning, leaving from the hotel towards the Pacific Ocean. During the journey you will have the opportunity to drive by different valleys, such as Curacavi where some of our wonderful fruits are produced and Casablanca, world-known landscape for our great Chardonney wines.
Valparaiso will amaze you from the very start. The spontaneously constructed shanty houses and luxurious palaces on hills and cliffs. The ancient harbor, the vertical funicular railways, the reclaimed land where we find the stock market, the noisy and vivid commercial area, the Chilean Navy Headquarters, the Legislative Chambers and the zones designated by UNESCO, as World Heritage will invite you to discover the cobbled streets, the spectacular statues and the mosaic architecture and most important of all the local people which are called “porteños”.
Lunch will take place in a fabulous restaurant where we can enjoy the delicious fresh seafood and fish (alternative menues will be available).
We will visit Viña del Mar, the “garden city” for a panoramic view of its green areas covered with exotic flowers like, the Flower Clock; the original Easter Island Statue “Moai” and all the fabulous mansions, once the home of many foreign wealthy miners and of course we cannot miss the great beaches full of local and tourist sunbathers and swimmers, and also some daring surfers.
After this great day we return to the the city of Santiago
Day 4
Free day for exploring, shopping, walking, eating......... or just at leisure.
In the evening transfer to the airport.
