Early in the morning we depart Santiago by crossing the central valleys.

Isla Negra, beach of the central coast of Chile and a small town surrounded by forests  was the area that, Pablo Neruda, our world wide known poet and Nobel prize of literature in 1971 chose to connect with the Pacific Ocean, and construct his today’s House-Museum. This house, like “La Chascona” in Santiago and “La Sebastiana” in the port of Valparaíso are filled with amazing collections of bottles; figureheads; shells, colourful glasses and exotic furniture, practically all his private passions are shown in every room.

During the visit we learn about his devotion for trains, his father’s hard work, his loyalty to his friends, mainly artists and politicians, his struggle for the worker’s rights, his social activities as well as his tremendous apetite for sea food and fish, his endless thirst for chilean wine and his biggest weakness “women”.

The poet spent many days at this house, sharing with his close friends great meals and many drinks at his bar, therefore his wish in life was to rest eternally with his wife Matilde at this house. Both tombs are located on a terrace facing the constant waves of the ocean. Similar view that he enjoyed every morning while he wrote his love poems and political verses.

After this rapture visit we continue........
