How about climate?
Mediterranean climate, hot summers (over 86°F/30°C) and winters with heavy but brief rainfall (June-July). Snowfall is only in the mountains.

In Chile the official language is Spanish, but English is spoken in most tourist places.
How about tips?
Leaving a tip is a Chilean custom. In restaurants and bars 10% of the bill is normal. For other services, the tip is up to your criteria.

For the most part, Santiago is a safe city, but still a metropolis. However, if you bear in mind the following recommendations you will be able to enjoy your stay without any major.

Leave your passport, air ticket and money in the hotel safety box
Do not go about streets or parks that look to deserted at night.
Do not display expensive jewelry and don't be careless of your purse or camera specially in crows.

Santiago has a very useful and vast transportation network made up of buses, subways and taxis.
How about money?
The chilean currency is the peso and it's about 500 chilean pesos per a american dolar. Most stores and restaurants accept credit cards. You will find ATM's all around Santiago to get cash with major credit cards. Dollar is accepted only in big stores and Malls.
How about drinking water?
Although the tap water is treated and totally safe, we recommend you to drink bottled water.
