Whenever we describe the geography of Chile is impossible not to mention the Andes Mountains, full of volcanoes, the Pacific Ocean that bathes our long coast, the Atacama Desert in the north and Patagonia widespread in the south.
We rarely mention the Coast Mountain that forms most of our central productive valleys. Casablanca is one of them. It is located at the foothill of this ancient Mountain chain, it has a rather cold climate due to the maritime influence, an ideal condition for slow ripening of the grapes planted on more than 4.000 ha.
This world famous valley is known mainly for its “Chardonnay” grapes, but certainly this is not the only kind of grapes that grow in this superb terruar.
Our first visit will be to a marvellous boutique winery which produces premium wines. They emphasize quality rather than quantity. All production is harvested by hand and you will have the pleasure of tasting several of their delicate varieties.
The second stop will be to enjoy a delicious lunch, of course with a great wine at the oldest restaurant in the valley. After the long and relaxed meal we will continue with our visit.
In this vineyard, you will realize that not only people work here there are also the geese that deal with gardening; alpacas in charge of the weeding and the fertility of the soil. The rows with vines are alternated with flowers and grass, so insects go after them and do not touch the grapes.
Absolutely every worker has the responsibility to take care of the environment, to increase biodiversity and produce amazing wines with organic grapes that undoubtedly you will love to taste.
After this great day we return to Santiago in the afternoon.
