    About Chile

    Chile, officially the Republic of Chile, is a country in South America occupying a long and narrow coastal strip wedged between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Chilean territory extension it´s around 4,320km (2,690mls). The maximum width is 450km (280mls) while the narrowest is only 90km (56ml). The total continental smallest country in South America.

    Two main mountains ranges dominate the country: The Andes mountain range on the east side and the parallel Coastal range.

    Due to its extension, Chile is a country of contrasts: The northern part with the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world; the central part with fertile territory and mild climate; the southern part, colder and humid and thousands of islets.
